Our Off-Campus Norms and Conditions

For Institution:

Director-Global Off-Campus Studies (Director-GOCS) must have a formal agreement in place with each off-campus location. This agreement should outline the specific responsibilities of both Director-GOCS and the off-campus location, including academic standards, student support services, and financial arrangements.

Director-GOCS must ensure that all off-campus locations meet its high academic standards. This includes conducting regular site visits, reviewing course syllabi and assessments, and providing ongoing support to off-campus faculty and staff.

Director-GOCS must provide students in off-campus locations with access to the same student support services as students on campus. This includes academic advising, career counseling, and financial aid assistance.

Director-GOCS must be transparent with students about the costs associated with off-campus study. This includes tuition, fees, and other expenses.

For Students:

Students must be in good academic standing with ASU to be eligible for off-campus study.

Students must complete all required pre-admission paperwork and attend a mandatory pre-admission orientation.

Students must abide by the rules and regulations of the off-campus location, as well as the laws and customs of the country where they are studying.

Students are responsible for their own travel and living arrangements while studying off campus.

Additional Norms and Conditions for Global Off-Campus Study

Each Off-Campus must ensure that all students participating in global off-campus study have adequate health insurance and travel insurance.

Off-Campus must provide students with information and support on safety and security issues in the country where they will be studying.

Updated Norms and Conditions for 2023:

Director, Global Off-Campus Studies (Director-GOCS) must ensure that all off-campus locations comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to accessibility and non-discrimination.

Director-GOCS must provide students with access to online learning resources and support services, in addition to other services.

Director-GOCS must have a plan in place to address any disruptions to off-campus study, such as those caused by natural disasters or political unrest.

Additional Considerations for Extending Off-Campus Globally

Director-GOCS must carefully consider the cultural and linguistic differences between the United States and the countries where it will be offering off-campus programs.

Director-GOCS must develop partnerships with local educational institutions and other organizations to ensure that students have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.

Director-GOCS must market its off-campus programs to international students in a way that is respectful and culturally sensitive.

By following these norms and conditions, Director-GOCS can ensure that ASU’s off-campus programs provide students with a high-quality educational experience, regardless of where they are located in the world.
